Connect a GoDaddy Domain to Roomvu

Already own a domain with GoDaddy? Here's how to point it to your Roomvu site — about ~10 min, no tech skills needed.

Connecting your own domain makes your Roomvu site look fully yours — www.yourname.com instead of a roomvu.com link. You'll do it in two places: add two records inside GoDaddy, then enter your domain back in Roomvu and save.

What you'll need

  • ✅ Your GoDaddy login.

  • ✅ A domain you already own there.

  • ✅ About ~10 min. Changes can take up to 24 hours to fully go live.

The two records you'll add

Add an A record for your root domain and a CNAME for www. These values are the same for every Roomvu site.

CNAME

⚠️ LEAVE THESE ALONE

  • Don't change or delete your TXT or MX records. Those run your email and account verifications — editing them can break your inbox.

  • Turn off any domain forwarding or redirect first. If your domain currently forwards to another website, that forwarding overrides the records above and your site won't load.

Step by step in GoDaddy

GD · The most common registrar for agents · Easy · ~10 min

Where to go: Sign in → My Products → Domains → Your domain → DNS

Steps:

  1. Sign in to GoDaddy and open My Products. Find your domain under Domains.

  2. Click DNS next to the domain (or the three dots → Manage DNS).

  3. In DNS Records, find the existing A record named @ and click the pencil to Edit. If there isn't one, click Add New Record and choose type A.

  4. Set Value to 138.197.154.187, leave TTL at default, and Save.

  5. Click Add New Record → type CNAME, Name www, Value @ (your root domain). Save.

  6. Open Domain Settings → Forwarding. If any forwarding is on, turn it off — it overrides your records.

The two records:

CNAME

www

@ (your root domain)

💡 Watch out for:

  • GoDaddy auto-creates a "Parked" A record and a www CNAME. Edit those instead of adding duplicates.

  • If the domain is connected to GoDaddy Websites + Marketing, disconnect it first or that site keeps loading.

  • Forwarding lives under Domain Settings, not DNS Records — easy to miss.

Last step: finish in Roomvu

Once your records are saved, head back to Settings → Website in Roomvu, type your domain into Enter your domain, and click Save Changes. Roomvu checks the connection and switches your site over.

How long until it's live?

Most domains connect within an hour or two. Give it a full day before worrying.

DNS changes spread across the internet — usually quick, occasionally up to a day or two.

How to check it worked

  • ✅ Open www.yourname.com in a private/incognito window — you should see your Roomvu site.

  • ✅ Try it without www too. Both should load.

  • ✅ The padlock (SSL) can take a little longer to appear — that's normal right after connecting.

  • ✅ Want to peek behind the scenes? Search your domain on a free tool like whatsmydns.net to watch the A record update worldwide.

Troubleshooting

  • My domain still shows the old site That's almost always leftover forwarding or browser cache. Remove any redirect/forwarding at GoDaddy, then check again in a private/incognito window. DNS can also still be propagating — give it a few hours.

  • The site loads, but www doesn't (or vice-versa) You're missing one of the two records. Make sure you have both: the A record for @ and the CNAME for www.

  • My email stopped working An MX or TXT record was likely changed or removed. Restore your original mail records — only the A and CNAME above should have changed. If unsure, book a session below.

  • It says "Not secure" / no padlock The SSL certificate is issued automatically after your domain connects. It can take from a few minutes up to 24 hours. If it's still missing after a day, reach out.
