Already own a domain with Wix? Here's how to point it to your Roomvu site — about ~10–15 min, no tech skills needed.
Connecting your own domain makes your Roomvu site look fully yours — www.yourname.com instead of a roomvu.com link. You'll do it in two places: add two records inside Wix, then enter your domain back in Roomvu and save.
Wix is common with agents who built a site there. Pointing a Wix domain away takes one extra step — you use the pointing method and may need a paid plan to edit DNS.
What you'll need
✅ Your Wix login.
✅ A domain you already own there.
✅ About ~10–15 min. Changes can take up to 24 hours to fully go live.
The two records you'll add
Add an A record for your root domain and a CNAME for www. These values are the same for every Roomvu site.

⚠️ LEAVE THESE ALONE
Don't change or delete your
TXTorMXrecords. Those run your email and account verifications — editing them can break your inbox.Turn off any domain forwarding or redirect first. If your domain currently forwards to another website, that forwarding overrides the records above and your site won't load.
Step by step in Wix
WX · Common with agents who built a Wix site · Medium · ~10–15 min
Where to go: Wix account → Domains → Your domain → Manage DNS → DNS Records
Steps:
Go to your Wix account → Domains.
Click your domain → the three dots → Manage DNS Records (or Advanced).
Edit the A record for host @ and set the value to
138.197.154.187.Edit or add a CNAME for www pointing to @ (your domain).
Save. If the domain is connected to a Wix site, disconnect it so it stops serving.

💡 Watch out for:
Use Wix's "Connect via pointing" method — not "Connect to Wix."
Editing DNS may require a paid Wix plan; some free domains can't set custom A records.
If you only see "Connect to a domain," open Manage DNS Records to reach the editor.
Last step: finish in Roomvu
Once your records are saved, head back to Settings → Website in Roomvu, type your domain into Enter your domain, and click Save Changes. Roomvu checks the connection and switches your site over.
How long until it's live?
Most domains connect within an hour or two. Give it a full day before worrying.
Milestone | Timing |
You save | Immediately |
First propagation | A few minutes |
Usual live | 1–2 hours |
Worst case | Up to 24–48 hrs |
DNS changes spread across the internet — usually quick, occasionally up to a day or two.
How to check it worked
✅ Open
www.yourname.comin a private/incognito window — you should see your Roomvu site.✅ Try it without
wwwtoo. Both should load.✅ The padlock (SSL) can take a little longer to appear — that's normal right after connecting.
✅ Want to peek behind the scenes? Search your domain on a free tool like whatsmydns.net to watch the A record update worldwide.
Troubleshooting
My domain still shows the old site That's almost always leftover forwarding or browser cache. Remove any redirect/forwarding at Wix, then check again in a private/incognito window. DNS can also still be propagating — give it a few hours.
The site loads, but www doesn't (or vice-versa) You're missing one of the two records. Make sure you have both: the A record for @ and the CNAME for www.
My email stopped working An MX or TXT record was likely changed or removed. Restore your original mail records — only the A and CNAME above should have changed. If unsure, book a session below.
It says "Not secure" / no padlock The SSL certificate is issued automatically after your domain connects. It can take from a few minutes up to 24 hours. If it's still missing after a day, reach out.
I only have a free Wix domain Some free plans only allow forwarding, not custom DNS records. You can forward to your Roomvu profile as a fallback, but a real A + CNAME connection is better. Book a session and we'll find the best option with you.
