Already own a domain with Namecheap? Here's how to point it to your Roomvu site — about ~10 min, no tech skills needed.
Connecting your own domain makes your Roomvu site look fully yours — www.yourname.com instead of a roomvu.com link. You'll do it in two places: add two records inside Namecheap, then enter your domain back in Roomvu and save.
What you'll need
✅ Your Namecheap login.
✅ A domain you already own there.
✅ About ~10 min. Changes can take up to 24 hours to fully go live.
The two records you'll add
Add an A record for your root domain and a CNAME for www. These values are the same for every Roomvu site.

⚠️ LEAVE THESE ALONE
Don't change or delete your
TXTorMXrecords. Those run your email and account verifications — editing them can break your inbox.Turn off any domain forwarding or redirect first. If your domain currently forwards to another website, that forwarding overrides the records above and your site won't load.

Steps:
Sign in, open Domain List, and click Manage next to your domain.
Open the Advanced DNS tab.
Delete the default CNAME www → parkingpage and any URL Redirect Record if present.
Under Host Records, click Add New Record → A Record: host @, value

💡 Watch out for:
Namecheap's "URL Redirect Record" is their forwarding — delete it or it overrides your A record.
Check Nameservers = Namecheap BasicDNS. If it's on Custom DNS or pointed at a host, your records won't apply.
Each record saves individually — don't forget the green checkmark.
Last step: finish in Roomvu
Once your records are saved, head back to Settings → Website in Roomvu, type your domain into Enter your domain, and click Save Changes. Roomvu checks the connection and switches your site over.
How long until it's live?
Most domains connect within an hour or two. Give it a full day before worrying.
Milestone | Timing |
You save | Immediately |
First propagation | A few minutes |
Usual live | 1–2 hours |
Worst case | Up to 24–48 hrs |
DNS changes spread across the internet — usually quick, occasionally up to a day or two.
How to check it worked
✅ Open
www.yourname.comin a private/incognito window — you should see your Roomvu site.✅ Try it without
wwwtoo. Both should load.✅ The padlock (SSL) can take a little longer to appear — that's normal right after connecting.
✅ Want to peek behind the scenes? Search your domain on a free tool like whatsmydns.net to watch the A record update worldwide.
Troubleshooting
My domain still shows the old site That's almost always leftover forwarding or browser cache. Remove any redirect/forwarding at Namecheap, then check again in a private/incognito window. DNS can also still be propagating — give it a few hours.
The site loads, but www doesn't (or vice-versa) You're missing one of the two records. Make sure you have both: the
Arecord for@and theCNAMEforwww.My email stopped working An
MXorTXTrecord was likely changed or removed. Restore your original mail records — only theAandCNAMEabove should have changed. If unsure, book a session below. It says "Not secure" / no padlock The SSL certificate is issued automatically after your domain connects. It can take from a few minutes up to 24 hours. If it's still missing after a day, reach out.
