How to Connect Your Domain to Roomvu

Point a domain you already own (like yourname.com) to your Roomvu site. Pick your provider below and follow the steps — it takes about 10 minutes.

Connecting your own domain makes your Roomvu site look fully yours — www.yourname.com instead of a roomvu.com link. You do it in two places: add a couple of records at your domain provider, then enter your domain back in Roomvu and save.

What you'll need

  • ✅ A domain you already own. (Don't have one yet? Buy one from any provider below first.)

  • ✅ Your login for the provider where you bought it.

  • ✅ About 10–15 minutes. Changes can take up to 24 hours to fully go live.

The records you'll add

Every provider uses the same two records. Only the menus differ. Add an A record for your root domain and a CNAME for www.

Type

Host / Name

Value

A

@

138.197.154.187

CNAME

@ (your root domain)

⚠️ LEAVE THESE ALONE

  • Don't change or delete your TXT or MX records. Those run your email and account verifications — editing them can break your inbox.

  • Turn off any domain forwarding or redirect first. If your domain currently forwards to another website, that forwarding overrides the records above and your site won't load.

Find your provider

Not sure? It's whoever you pay each year for the domain. Jump to yours:

GoDaddy {#godaddy}

GD · The most common registrar for agents · Easy · ~10 min

GoDaddy is where most agents' domains live. The DNS editor is straightforward, but two things trip people up: a leftover "Parked" record and a separate Forwarding setting. We'll handle both.

Where to go: Sign in → My Products → Domains → Your domain → DNS

Steps:

  1. Sign in to GoDaddy and open My Products. Find your domain under Domains.

  2. Click DNS next to the domain (or the three dots → Manage DNS).

  3. In DNS Records, find the existing A record named @ and click the pencil to Edit. If there isn't one, click Add New Record and choose type A.

  4. Set Value to 138.197.154.187, leave TTL at default, and Save.

  5. Click Add New Record → type CNAME, Name www, Value @ (your root domain). Save.

  6. Open Domain Settings → Forwarding. If any forwarding is on, turn it off — it overrides your records.

The two records:

Type

Host

Value

A

@

138.197.154.187

CNAME

www

@ (your root domain)

💡 Watch out for:

  • GoDaddy auto-creates a "Parked" A record and a www CNAME. Edit those instead of adding duplicates.

  • If the domain is connected to GoDaddy Websites + Marketing, disconnect it first or that site keeps loading.

  • Forwarding lives under Domain Settings, not DNS Records — easy to miss.

.realtor {#realtor}

.R · NAR member domain — often free · Medium · ~10–15 min

Your .realtor domain comes through NAR and is managed at get.realtor. Most members get one free. The catch: depending on your plan, you may only get forwarding, not full DNS — read the note below before you start.

Where to go: get.realtor → Sign in (NAR login) → My Domains → Your .realtor domain → Manage DNS

Steps:

  1. Go to get.realtor and sign in with your NAR member login (NRDS ID).

  2. Open your .realtor domain dashboard.

  3. Look for Manage DNS / Advanced DNS. (If you only see Forwarding, see the note below.)

  4. Add an A record: host @, value 138.197.154.187.

  5. Add a CNAME record: host www, value @.

  6. Save. If your domain was forwarding to realtor.com or a landing page, remove that forwarding.

The two records:

Type

Host

Value

A

@

138.197.154.187

CNAME

www

@ (your root domain)

💡 Watch out for:

  • Free member .realtor domains often ship pre-set to forward to a profile page — that forwarding has to come off.

  • The same steps apply to a .realestate domain if you claimed one.

  • Domain-level questions (login, renewal) go through get.realtor support, not Roomvu.

⚠️ Heads up on .realtor On the free .realtor tier you may only be able to forward the domain, not set A/CNAME records. If you don't see DNS records at all, you can forward the domain to your Roomvu profile URL as a fallback — but a real A + CNAME connection is better. If you're stuck, book a session and we'll set it up with you.

Namecheap {#namecheap}

NC · Popular budget registrar · Easy · ~10 min

Namecheap is clean and cheap, common with more hands-on agents. The one gotcha: it ships with default "parking" records and a URL Redirect that you'll need to clear out first.

Where to go: Sign in → Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS

Steps:

  1. Sign in, open Domain List, and click Manage next to your domain.

  2. Open the Advanced DNS tab.

  3. Delete the default CNAME www → parkingpage and any URL Redirect Record if present.

  4. Under Host Records, click Add New RecordA Record: host @, value 138.197.154.187, TTL Automatic.

  5. Add another → CNAME Record: host www, value @, TTL Automatic.

  6. Click the green checkmark to save each record.

The two records:

Type

Host

Value

A

@

138.197.154.187

CNAME

www

@ (your root domain)

💡 Watch out for:

  • Namecheap's "URL Redirect Record" is their forwarding — delete it or it overrides your A record.

  • Check Nameservers = Namecheap BasicDNS. If it's on Custom DNS or pointed at a host, your records won't apply.

  • Each record saves individually — don't forget the green checkmark.

Squarespace {#squarespace}

SQ · Formerly Google Domains · Easy · ~10 min

If you bought through Google Domains, your domain now lives at Squarespace — Google sold that business to them. DNS editing is simple under Custom Records.

Where to go: Sign in → Domains → Your domain → DNS → Custom records

Steps:

  1. Sign in to Squarespace. (Google Domains customers: your domains were migrated here.)

  2. Go to Domains and click your domain.

  3. Open DNS (DNS Settings) and scroll to Custom Records.

  4. Add a record: Host @, Type A, Data 138.197.154.187.

  5. Add another: Host www, Type CNAME, Data @ (your root domain).

  6. Save. If the domain is connected to a Squarespace website, disconnect it first.

The two records:

Type

Host

Value

A

@

138.197.154.187

CNAME

www

@ (your root domain)

💡 Watch out for:

  • Don't delete Squarespace's preset verification (TXT) or email (MX) records.

  • If the domain points to a Squarespace site, that site keeps serving until you disconnect it.

  • Can't log in? Use the "transferred to Squarespace" recovery for old Google Domains accounts.

Wix {#wix}

WX · Common with agents who built a Wix site · Medium · ~10–15 min

Wix is common with agents who built a site there. Pointing a Wix domain away takes one extra step — you use the pointing method and may need a paid plan to edit DNS.

Where to go: Wix account → Domains → Your domain → Manage DNS → DNS Records

Steps:

  1. Go to your Wix account → Domains.

  2. Click your domain → the three dots → Manage DNS Records (or Advanced).

  3. Edit the A record for host @ and set the value to 138.197.154.187.

  4. Edit or add a CNAME for www pointing to @ (your domain).

  5. Save. If the domain is connected to a Wix site, disconnect it so it stops serving.

The two records:

Type

Host

Value

A

@

138.197.154.187

CNAME

www

@ (your root domain)

💡 Watch out for:

  • Use Wix's "Connect via pointing" method — not "Connect to Wix."

  • Editing DNS may require a paid Wix plan; some free domains can't set custom A records.

  • If you only see "Connect to a domain," open Manage DNS Records to reach the editor.

Last step: finish in Roomvu

Once your records are saved, head back to Settings → Website in Roomvu, type your domain into Enter your domain, and click Save Changes. Roomvu checks the connection and switches your site over.

How long until it's live?

Most domains connect within an hour or two. Give it a full day before worrying.

DNS changes spread across the internet — usually quick, occasionally up to a day or two.

How to check it worked

  • ✅ Open www.yourname.com in a private/incognito window — you should see your Roomvu site.

  • ✅ Try it without www too. Both should load.

  • ✅ The padlock (SSL) can take a little longer to appear — that's normal right after connecting.

  • ✅ Want to peek behind the scenes? Search your domain on a free tool like whatsmydns.net to watch the A record update worldwide.

Troubleshooting

  • My domain still shows the old site That's almost always leftover forwarding or browser cache. Remove any redirect/forwarding at your provider, then check again in a private window. DNS can also still be propagating — give it a few hours.

  • The site loads, but www doesn't (or vice-versa) You're missing one of the two records. Make sure you have both: the A record for @ and the CNAME for www.

  • My email stopped working An MX or TXT record was likely changed or removed. Restore your original mail records — only the A and CNAME above should have changed. If unsure, book a session below.

  • It says "Not secure" / no padlock The SSL certificate is issued automatically after your domain connects. It can take from a few minutes up to 24 hours. If it's still missing after a day, reach out.

  • I only have a free .realtor or free Wix domain Some free plans only allow forwarding, not custom DNS records. You can forward to your Roomvu profile as a fallback, but a real A + CNAME connection is better. Book a session and we'll sort out the best option with you.

Still stuck? We'll do it with you.

Domain settings can be fiddly. Hop on a quick session and a Roomvu specialist will point your DNS live, screen-share and all.
