roomvu gives you the tools to generate custom city background images tied to your location and save them to your account for ongoing use. This article walks you through how to do that, and explains a common setting that can cause all your slideshows to look identical.
Why Your Slideshow Images May Not Match Your Location
roomvu generates slideshow content automatically, and in some cases the default stock images used may not feel specific to your city or area. The good news is you can generate location-relevant images directly inside the platform and have them applied to your slideshows going forward.
How to Generate a City Background Image
Go to your Content Calendar
Click on an existing slideshow, or add one if none is present
Click Edit Slides
Click on any slide to select it Important: Do not make changes to the first slide. That is the cover slide and edits made there will not be reflected in the content. Select any slide after the first one.
Click on the image within that slide
From the left menu, click Generate City Background
Choose your preferred image type from the drop-down menu (options include waterfront, skyline, and more)
Click Generate
The generated image will be saved to your account and used in your slideshows moving forward.
Prefer to search for a specific image? You can also use the search bar in the same left menu to find footage manually instead of generating one.
Why Do All My Slideshows Look the Same?
This is one of the most common questions we hear, and it almost always comes down to one setting.
When you edit a slideshow and save your changes, you're given the option to save that template "for all news." If you choose this option, roomvu locks in that specific template and set of images across all your slideshow content. The system will no longer pull in varied images, which is why everything starts to look identical.
If you've done this and want more variety in your slideshows again, you'll need to go back into the slide editor and generate or select new images, then save without applying them to all news.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Generated images are saved to your account and reused over time, so it's worth taking a few minutes to generate images you're happy with.
The "for all news" save option is useful if you want a consistent branded look, but it does come at the cost of visual variety.
If your slideshows still don't feel local after generating new images, try searching for footage using specific terms like your city name or a recognizable local landmark.
