roomvu lets you receive a portion of your weekly content in a secondary language, such as Spanish, so you can connect with more of your local audience. Here's how the system works and what to expect.
Setting Your Secondary Language Level
You can choose how much of your weekly content is posted in your secondary language. There are three levels:
Setting | What It Means |
Low | About 25% of weekly posts in your secondary language |
Medium | About 50% of weekly posts in your secondary language |
High | Up to 100% of weekly posts in your secondary language |
These percentages apply to both your news posts and your video posts separately. So if you receive 4 news and 3 videos per week, the percentage is applied to each group independently.
What Can Affect How Much Secondary Language Content You Receive
The percentages above are the target, not a guarantee. Several factors can reduce the amount of secondary language content in your calendar.
1. Content types that are always in English
Some content is only available in English regardless of your secondary language setting:
Market updates
Events
Recruiting content
CYC content
News you've added yourself
These are scheduled whenever they're available and your secondary language setting does not apply to them.
2. Priority content that may appear in English
A few content types take scheduling priority and may appear in English even when your setting is set to High:
Personalized content available in English
Your weekly local market update
Recruiting content, if you have the Recruiting tag selected as a preference
3. Limited video availability in other languages
News content is translated regularly so the system can usually meet your chosen level for news. Video content in secondary languages is more limited. When there aren't enough secondary language videos available, the remaining spots are filled with English videos to keep your calendar full.
4. Limiting your content types
If you have restricted the types of content you receive, for example by deselecting certain topics or categories, this can reduce the pool of available secondary language content. The secondary language rules work as described only when your content types are not restricted. The more you narrow your content preferences, the more likely it is that secondary language availability will be affected.
What to Expect on Each Setting
Even on the High setting, it is completely normal to see a few English posts each week. This is not a bug. It is the result of the English-only content types, priority content, and secondary language video availability described above.
If your videos are mostly in English but your news is mostly in your secondary language, that is also expected. News translation is more complete than video translation, so the two groups often behave differently.
Quick Answers
"I set my secondary language to High but I still see English posts. Is this a bug?"
No. Market updates, events, recruiting, CYC, and user-added news are always in English. A few English posts per week is normal on any setting.
"Why are my videos mostly in English even though I set a secondary language?"
Video content in secondary languages is more limited than news. When there isn't enough available, English videos fill the remaining spots.
"My secondary language content seems lower than expected. What's going on?"
Check whether you've limited your content types or topics. Restricting content categories reduces the available pool, which can affect how much secondary language content the system can schedule.
