Why Does My Facebook Connection Keep Dropping and How to Link Facebook via Instagram

Understand why Facebook personal connections disconnect frequently on Roomvu and learn how to link your Facebook through Instagram for a more stable and reliable posting experience.

Updated this week

Many roomvu users ask us why their Facebook connection drops frequently — especially when connecting a personal Facebook account.

Unfortunately, Facebook doesn’t provide a fully reliable API for personal profiles, so automatic posting tools like Roomvu can experience frequent disconnections or failures. Because this is a limitation on Facebook’s side, Roomvu cannot permanently fix or prevent this on its own.

The most reliable way to keep your Instagram and Facebook connection stable is to link them properly through Instagram — ideally linking your Instagram to a Facebook Page instead of a personal Facebook profile.

Why Facebook Keeps Disconnecting

📌 Facebook personal profile connections are unstable — personal accounts lack the official, stable API support that Pages and Business accounts have. Third-party tools must rely on access tokens that expire, permissions that change, or security limits that Meta applies automatically, causing frequent drops.

Because of these limitations, the best long-term solution is to connect your Instagram to a Facebook Page, not just a personal profile.

How to Link Your Instagram to Facebook (for Better Stability)

Step 1: Make sure you have a Professional Instagram account

To link Instagram to Facebook properly (especially to a Page instead of a personal profile), your Instagram needs to be a Business or Creator account.

How to switch:

  1. Open the Instagram app

  2. Go to your profile

  3. Tap the menu (three lines) → Settings

  4. Tap Account

  5. Choose Switch to professional account

  6. Follow the steps to choose Business or Creator

Step 2: Link Instagram to Facebook via Instagram App

  1. Open the Instagram app

  2. Go to your profile

  3. Tap Edit Profile

  4. Under Public Business Information, find Page

  5. Tap Connect or Create

  6. Log in to Facebook when prompted

  7. Select the Facebook Page you want to connect to

  8. Tap Connect

This links your Instagram to a Facebook Page instead of a personal profile, which is more stable for posting and scheduling.

Step 3: Confirm the Connection in Meta Accounts Center

After linking:

  1. On Instagram, go to Settings

  2. Tap Accounts Center

  3. Make sure both your Facebook Page and Instagram are shown

  4. Enable Sharing across profiles if you want automatic cross-posting

Linking in Accounts Center ensures both platforms recognize the connection as official.

If You Don’t Have a Facebook Page Yet

You can create one during the linking process:

  • When Instagram asks you which Page to connect to, choose Create New

  • Follow the prompts to set up your Page

  • Once created, complete the linking steps

This gives you access to a more stable connection and lets Roomvu post reliably.

Summary: Best Practices for Stable Connections

✅ Use a Facebook Page instead of a personal profile
✅ Make sure your Instagram is a Business or Creator account
✅ Link accounts through Instagram’s Edit Profile → Page
✅ Connect and confirm the link in Meta Accounts Center

If your connection drops often on personal Facebook, it’s normal — it’s due to Meta’s API limitations, not Roomvu. Connecting via Instagram to a Facebook Page makes your integration much more stable and reduces disconnections.
