Recognizing and Reporting Phishing Emails Impersonating roomvu or Meta Advertising Alerts

Scammers sometimes send phishing emails designed to look like official messages from roomvu or from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) about your advertising, your page, or your account. These emails try to create panic, "your ad account has been restricted," "your page will be deleted," "your payment failed", and push you to click a link or hand over your login details.

Here's how to recognize these emails, and what to do if one lands in your inbox.

Common Signs of a Phishing Email

1. Urgency and threats

Phishing emails almost always pressure you to act immediately: "Your account will be permanently disabled in 24 hours." Legitimate companies do not threaten you into clicking links on a deadline.

2. A sender address that doesn't match the company

Check the actual email address, not just the display name. A phishing email may show "Meta Ads Support" or "roomvu Billing" as the name, but the address behind it will be something unrelated, misspelled, or from a free email provider (for example, support@meta-ads-alert.info or roomvu.billing@gmail.com). Genuine roomvu emails come from the roomvu.com domain.

3. Links that don't lead where they claim

Hover over any link before clicking (on mobile, press and hold to preview). If the email says it's from Meta but the link points to an unfamiliar domain, it's phishing. Real Meta links go to facebook.com, meta.com, or business.facebook.com. Real roomvu links go to roomvu.com.

4. Requests for passwords, payment details, or codes

roomvu will never ask you to reply with your password, credit card number, or verification codes by email. Neither will Meta.

5. Generic greetings and sloppy details

"Dear user," "Dear advertiser," misspellings, odd grammar, stretched or low-quality logos, and mismatched branding are all red flags.

6. Unexpected attachments

Legitimate account alerts from roomvu or Meta don't arrive as attachments. Do not open attachments from unexpected senders.

What Real roomvu Emails Look Like

  • They come from an address ending in @roomvu.com

  • They link only to pages on roomvu.com

  • They never ask for your password, payment details, or verification codes by email

  • Billing and subscription changes are always visible inside your roomvu dashboard under Payment & Billing, so you can verify any claim by logging in directly

The golden rule: if an email claims something is wrong with your roomvu account or your ads, do not click the link in the email. Instead, open a new browser tab, type roomvu.com yourself, log in, and check your account directly. The same applies to Meta: go to business.facebook.com directly rather than clicking an email link.

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Email

  1. Do not click any links or open any attachments

  2. Do not reply or provide any information

  3. Report it to roomvu by forwarding the email to info@roomvu.com so our team can investigate and warn other users

  4. Report it to your email provider using the "Report phishing" or "Report spam" option in Gmail, Outlook, or your email app

  5. If it impersonates Meta, you can also forward it to phish@fb.com, Meta's official phishing report address

  6. Delete the email after reporting

If You Already Clicked or Entered Your Details

Act quickly:

  1. Change your roomvu password immediately from your account settings

  2. Change the password on any other account that uses the same password, especially your email and Facebook accounts

  3. Check your Facebook and Meta Business settings for unfamiliar users, admins, or ad accounts, and remove anything you don't recognize

  4. Contact roomvu support at info@roomvu.com or (844) 852-4242 so we can help secure your account

  5. Monitor your payment methods for unauthorized charges and contact your bank if you shared card details
