How to Set Your Business Location for Accurate Hyper-Local Content

This article explains how to set and update your business marketing location in Roomvu, including primary city or zip code, secondary location, submarket selection, and excluding specific areas from hyper-local content.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

One of roomvu’s core strengths is the hyper-local content it creates for businesses. Because of this, it is extremely important that your account reflects the correct service area.

Your marketing location determines:

  • The city or zip code used for your content

  • Local market update videos

  • Area-specific insights and statistics

  • Community-based posts

Roomvu allows you to:

  • Set a Primary Location

  • Add a Second Location (optional)

  • Select submarkets

  • Exclude specific areas from your content

This guide explains how to configure these settings properly.

Why Your Location Settings Matter

Roomvu’s content engine generates posts based on your selected location. If your location is incorrect or too broad, your content may not align with the areas you actively serve.

Setting your location correctly ensures:

  • More relevant local content

  • Better audience engagement

  • Stronger local positioning

  • Improved credibility in your target market

How to Set Your Primary Location

Step 1: Open Settings

Log in to your Roomvu account and click the gear icon in the top right corner of your dashboard.

Step 2: Go to Contact Information

In the first tab called Contact Information, scroll down until you find the Marketing Location section.

Step 3: Enter Your Location

In the Marketing Location section, you can:

  • Enter your City or Zip Code as your Primary Location

  • Add a 2nd City or County if you operate in more than one area

Be precise. Use the exact city or zip code where you primarily serve clients.

Selecting Submarkets for Update Videos

After setting your main location, some content types such as submarket update videos may offer multiple location options.

You can choose the appropriate submarket from the drop-down menu when creating or scheduling those videos.

This allows you to tailor updates even more specifically within your broader service area.

How to Exclude a Specific Area

If there is a neighbourhood or city you do not want included in your content:

  • Use the option to exclude locations within the Marketing Location settings

  • Add the specific area you wish to block

This ensures your content calendar does not generate posts related to that area.

Best Practice Recommendations

We recommend:

  • Setting your most active service city as your primary location

  • Adding a second location only if you consistently work there

  • Excluding areas that do not align with your business focus

Accurate location settings are essential for getting the best results from Roomvu’s hyper-local content engine.
